Dr. Allen Zeman Announces Run for Broward County School Board

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Dr. Allen Zeman today announced his candidacy for Broward County School Board, District 8. After a successful Senior Executive career at the Pentagon, eight years on the Department of Defense School Board and five years serving as the Chair of the Fort Lauderdale Education Advisory Board, Zeman is bringing his student-first energy to the Broward County School Board.

“It is time to close the ‘say-do’ gap – we say that every child deserves the right to a high-quality education, but we don’t always do what’s required to make that a reality. This campaign is about putting our best resources and effort into serving Broward County students – the greatest hope for the future of our community,” said Zeman. Dr. Zeman and his family, including three Broward County school students, reside in Fort Lauderdale. The son of a Broward County School clinician and a PhD Psychologist, he was raised in Broward County, attended Broward County Schools from K-12th grade, and then attended Florida State University before leaving the state to serve as a civil servant with the U.S. Navy.

“My commitment to our educators, parents, and most importantly, our students, is that I will fight with passion and grit to improve our education system, empower Broward schools and students to eliminate any gaps between potential and actual performance, and put the health and safety of our students above all else.”

During his time serving our nation, he was forward deployed on Navy ships as a civilian employee for four years and worked for a year in Baghdad as the Chief Economist for the Reconstruction of Iraq.

Earning his Ph.D., M.S. and B.S. in Labor Economics and Econometrics from Florida State University. Zeman was also a member of the FSU Economics faculty, an Instructor at the Florida Center for Professional Development, and a successful business owner and instructor for the past 13 years.

“As a parent, representative of the United States overseas and community member, I have seen firsthand the value of a high-performing public-school system. We owe our students more than they are currently getting—with the community’s help, I believe I can make a significant impact on how we take action to support our children’s education,” said Zeman.

Dr. Zeman is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of the Center for Human Capital Innovation, a team that works with government agencies and commercial organizations to bring innovative solutions in executive coaching, human capital consulting, leader development, and human capital analytics.
